What a wonderful week I had. I took place in the World Club Challenge Relay, my rugby team became World Champions and I have been nomintaed for the Heart and Soul Award.
In a world that moves quickly—full calendars, packed inboxes, endless to‑do lists—it’s surprisingly easy to overlook the small quiet moments that make life meaningful. Yet, I realised in the simplest parts of our day are reasons to pause, breathe, and be thankful.
Gratitude doesn’t have to be loud or grand. Sometimes it’s a soft whisper, a gentle nudge reminding us that even in the chaos, goodness still lingers
Thankfulness Everyday
My gratitude was connected to big achievements: celebrations and experiences. But joy actually hides in ordinary places.
- The first sip of a warm cup of coffee.
- A message from a friend at just the right moment.
- Dancing in the kitchen.
- A walk where the air feels fresher than usual.
These tiny sparks add up. They steady us.
Why Gratitude Matters
Science has a lot to say about gratitude. Practicing thankfulness can:
- Improve mood and reduce stress
- Strengthen relationships
- Boost resilience
- Help us focus on what’s going right instead of what’s going wrong
Gratitude simply feels good. It shifts our perspective from “not enough” to “more than enough.”
Being Thankful Even on Hard Days
Gratitude isn’t about pretending everything is perfect. Life can be messy, unpredictable, and sometimes painful. On those days, being thankful is not about ignoring the struggle—it’s about finding one small steady thing to hold onto.
Maybe it’s the support of someone who cares.
Maybe it’s the strength you didn’t know you had.
Maybe it’s just the fact that you made it through the day.
There is courage in noticing the light when things feel dark.
How to Build a Thankful Heart
Gratitude grows when we practice it. A few simple habits can make a big difference:
1. Start or end your day with three things
They don’t need to be big. In fact, the smaller the better.
2. Say “thank you” more often
To others. To yourself. To the moment you’re in.
3. Slow down
Even 30 seconds of pause can reveal something you would’ve otherwise missed.
4. Write it down
A list, a journal, a note on your phone—whatever works for you.
5. Share your gratitude with someone
Gratitude grows when it’s spoken.
A Gentle Reminder
Thankfulness isn’t about perfection or positivity at all costs. It’s about awareness—choosing to see the good that already exists, even if it’s small.
